Found a pretty good deal on it on a local site and so I managed to sell a guitar of mine fast enough to have the cash to snatch it up before someone else did. Came with a gig bag and a set of Ernie ball 105s.

It needed a neck shim to take the action down to the level I like (thanks talkbass for the sandpaper shim suggestion, btw...) But now that I got it set up the way I like it...holy crap. What an amazing feeling and playing and sounding bass. I'm super glad I've added it to my arsenal

Very nice. Just curious how much it weighs. Mine was 11.5 lbs

I'm totally happy. I can't put this bass down. I just want an upgrade. lol. Some cash dropped in my lap and I've got gas. lol If the Ray34 doesn't blow me away I'll pass.

Ah, ok. Got it! Yeah extra cash seems to lead to buying more gear! :) I have had to put the brakes on some potential purchases and ask myself "Do I really need it?".

The Ray34 is more heavy than the Ray4, so that might be something to consider too. I was looking at the Ray 34 before I got my Ray4 but the weight was the deal breaker for me. I already have a great sounding Bass in the Lakland 55-02 Deluxe that also is the heaviest bass I have now, so I didn't want another one. The Ray4 with the Aguilar upgrade is just what I was looking for, and it's the lightest bass I have. Enjoy!

How’s that bass holding up? I’ve been sitting on buying that exact one for a while now. Can’t decide if I’ll get tired of the finish or not. It’s between that one and the regular black.

The bass itself is excellent. It really shines as a gigging instrument. Tone is solid and tight and deep.

My one issue with it is that the stock tuners have been total garbage. The a tuner in particular had a lot of issues with the gear teeth and it ended up completely stripping out. Sterling sent me some new tuners after a lot of persuasion despite this being a secondhand bass, and now it's fine.
