This is one of those, "I didn't mean to buy a bass" situations - LOL. I was out of town about a week ago and decided to drop into the nearest shop and just browse around. Well, there was a used Stingray 4HH hanging on the wall that l thought I might check out. Now, I've tried a 4H on more than one occasion, but (and yes, I've got my kevlar on ) one has never won me over, if I'm being honest. I also am quite content with my passive basses, but I was curious about the HH, so gave it a whirl. Oh ho, what do we have here? Neck felt great (even though I prefer a jazz bass neck) - no fret issues, smooth back, and sounded amazing - especially in drop D. I liked the different tones it offers and I really dug it. I put it back and went on my way. But I couldn't stop thinking about that Stingray, so the next day I called the store, and boom, it arrived today safe and sound at my house. It's a 2018, and I think the color is called, "metallic brown", even though it looks more red to me.

Very nice, and a great complement to what is in your rack. Congrats.

Thanks! And the two you got this year - what color(s), and do you have different strings for each, or is one a back up?

Hot Honey and Transparent Orange. I usually play with rounds but last week I put some Labella white tapes on the fretless. Liking it so far. The fretted replaced an older 2011 5H, and was supposed to be a backup bass for my Wal. With this weighing about 3 lbs less than the Wal (not to mention the stupid prices Wals are getting), it's pretty much my main bass now (well, the fretless has been getting all the love for the last month, actually). Both are under 9 pounds.
