I was just looking at GC and my local doesn’t have much. I’m going to stop in there today anyway just to see what they have but have you ever tried the F-One stuff? It looks like GC carries a lot of it (who knows what they’ll have in the store). I really only need one bottle seeing as how I only have one rosewood board that’s light colored out of my 4 basses.

I have not. Only the dunlop (fretboard is a 2part) and the Ernie ball womder wipes. They're great on unfinished maple necks. Haven't tried them much on rosewood though

The guys working the counter thought the original pickguards was ugly as hell so they swapped it out before I even got there, which was a huge plus for me. Now I’m just waiting on my white one to arrive. All in all, I’m glad I finally have a US made bass in the color I’ve been searching for. Came with the original MusicMan case as well.

Oh, and when I was looking around in the shop, the guys from Foreigner were there looking around since they were playing the state fair tonight.

I’ve seen those a bunch in other colors but I can’t bring myself to buy one because I like the look of the stingray with the control plate too much. I didn’t know that they had a sterling version in the same color though.

Also, to anyone looking for used gear I highly suggest checking out Music Go Round. In my area, it had the best selection of used gear and at pretty low prices. They are independently owned franchises so mileage may vary but in the Milwaukee area it has a really good selection.

I have a passive EBMM SUB which I really love. It's got a tad of warmth to it being passive and all but still has that punchy Ray sound. I also changed the pickguard - I went with a black pearl guard, also have a black one too. Here's a pic of the black pearl pickguard on it.

Thanks. Random question: what does the third knob do if it’s passive? I assume volume and tone and ______?

Hiho I got mine in 2003 in teal.Fabulous bass.Its a keeper.I a/b my SUB against a classic through my rig-guess what -they sounded the same.I have fitted a carbon fibre scratchplate.Great gigging basses with a bullet proof finish.

It's got the punch and loudness of the active version, but a little warmer sounding, sort of a marriage between a Ray and a P-Bass. I've heard it described that way and I have to agree with that, that's a pretty good way of imagining how the bass sounds like. I've had a chance to compared it to a regular EBMM Ray and well, I like both for different reasons, I'd have both if I had my way. I was offered a trade for an active version a while back but supposedly these passive ones are not quite as common so I decided to keep it instead as I can either look for an EBMM SUB Ray active or even a Sterling Ray if I wanted to add an active Ray to my collection without spending too much money.

I think maybe my knowledge is limited when it comes to this but I didn’t even know passive bass cut and treble cut was a thing. I assumed it was just volume tone like a p bass so I avoided the passive ones and went for the active ones. In the end I’m glad I got an active one just because I like the album Everything Sux by the Descendents and Karl used an active stingray when recording it.

Wow, I didn't know Karl used a stingray for that album. I love the way that album was mixed - bass sounds great in it! I always thought it was a jazz...
