NBD : Sweetwater Swap Edition

I got this a couple weeks ago:

It was a sweet bass but the nut on the A slot was carved to wide and the string was rattling horrendously. So I took it back to Sweetwater. The guy said he could have it repaired or I could swap. I opted for the swap because having repair work done on a brand new bass just didn't feel right. So, I swapped her out for one with a maple neck and I gotta say I like the look and the sound better. Here she is!

Sweetwater guys were awesome. I had already taken the case candy out, read and and resorted it, used the strap, etc. They just swapped everything out, case and all with no questions asked. The new one plays great and best of all, no string rattle!

Sounds like someone doing the setup used the E string nut file on the A string.

I heard the A can be a bit of a problem because the lack of a string tree and the angle that it comes off of the neck from, but I restrung it and it still was really bad. Simply a bad carve job.

Congrats on the change! I have the same maple fretboard AM Std P, and it's from Sweetwater, too. I could not be happier with the quality, feel, and sound. Back of the neck even has some striping.

Regretfully, I must agree with this. Each guitar and bass guitar I have purchased from Sweetwater has needed intonation, string height, and pickup height adjustments. However, I take that as a given, so I'm perfectly happy.
