I've always liked these. Have you been able to compare the electronics to the real thing?

It is as it looks, very good quality.
I don't know if it was made in Matsumoku. I didn't find that info anywhere yet.

I know that Matsumoku made instruments that were almost direct copies of Alembics under a few different brands. Some would argue that the Matsumoku's were as good or better quality.
At any rate, you found yourself a really cool bass my brother.

I remember playing one of those. as I recall, they played really nice, I never cared for the active sound.
Beautiful Bass though, and nice job saving another classic.
