NBD: USA Lakland 44-60 (JO4)

Recently bought my second USA Lakland from Bass Central. My first was a 55-94 I bought from Bass Central in 2012; great bass, but this 44-60 is something special.

I must say I've owned several high end passive j style basses; fender CS, fender usa, G&L, etc...

This 44-60 is truly an amazing instrument - as close to perfect as it gets. Absolutely perfect neck, action, finish, neck pocket, tuning stability, hardware, craftsmanship, etc... It sounds as pure as a j bass gets.

I on a whim went with the shoreline gold and rw fretboard. I'm glad I did. I'm overly impressed with Laklands craftsmanship at their Chicago. Truly world class instrument are coming out of that shop.

The only negative... I'm probably not gonna play my active fivers much for a while (including the 55-94).

Would love to hear what you guys think about the 44-60's...

Great on ya... My US 4460 is almost exactly like yours except I have the matched headstock and cream binding around the board... you cant beat Lakland USA... I have a couple Skylines I love as well!

I procrastinated on that very bass on Bass Central's site for a couple of months and nearly pulled the trigger, and then suddenly it was gone. It's great to hear that the bass is everything I thought it would be and then some, and that the person who bought it is thrilled with it. As a Lakland USA owner already, I feel the craftsmanship on these basses is as good as any I've played. The rolled edge and vintage frets feel perfect. That Shoreline Gold is fabulous. Congrats!

Congrats! Love Laklands shoreline gold!

I have a 5560 with CHI sonic pickups and another which is active and fretless... As you say... The workmanship is spectacular!

Sometimes a J is what the doctor ordered!

The first lakland I ever saw was an active and pretty mojod active Jo 4460) in a Chicago concert video....Jason Scheff was playing it.

Got me hooked...

Congrats again....
