I finally moved to a Precision last month. After years of playing Ric's and Jazz's as well as way to many custom builds. Now all I need is my Jazz and my Precision and life rocks.

P.S. American Standards have the best necks and pickups.

I feel in love with the Fender P in 1964 when I first saw one being played on stage. I had been playing less than a year. I had a Dano because it was all I could afford and the place I bought it didn't have anything else. I went to see another band and it was like in the movies when they zoom in on an object and do the fuzzy focus around it and it sparkles and shines and it is the only thing you see.
It was a burst, tort, maple with ashtrays. I thought it was the prettiest thing I'd ever seen. I wasn't able to afford one until 67. I've played them since. I have had a lot of other basses, but always come back to Ps. This is 1976. It was my all time favorite rig. That is a V4B sitting on an 8x10 with Altec Lansings.

I've never played flats. I take that back... a Rondo/SX fretless I bought came with flats. They stayed on all of 5 minutes.

Now that I've been bit by the P bug, I may actually consider stringing some flats if I get a second Precision.

The 83 Precision came with white pickup covers, micro-tilt adjustment, one ply 15 hole pickguard, and truss rod access at headstock. I'm fairly certain that they only came in four colors: black, ivory, sunburst, and sienna sunburst.

... and, It also came with a 3 screw hole bridge, and I believe all the pickguards were white.
