NBD :) VM Squier 5 string

Sanded off or not, Squier's are not by name bad basses...just the ratio of good to bad is higher (or is it that longer...?).
I bought a Squier that had been defretted off of eBay. That sounds like a potential disaster right there. However, this Squier was the one in 10 that was pretty damn decent for what it was. Let's just say I had a custom shop Jaco relic after that and the difference was not £2000...

I played two of these basses today, and if you want a Seventies style Jazz for small bread, this bass could be just what you want. The first one I played come from the factory nicely set up, and it played like dream. It also captured the traditional Jazz tones that I love. I was especially impressed with what a great bridge pickup solo tone it got. The slap tone was classic also.
The second one I played needed to have it's trussrod tweaked a bit, so it did not play as well, nor did it sound as good. That bass also had noticeable fret sprout.
If you want one, I recommend going to a store and checking it out, a good one would make a great investment! I would not order because I am not sure that they are all that consistent since I know of four string models of the same bass that had issues too.
