Every time I see a used Wal on Reverb that’s actually in something like new shape, it’s $12-$15k. Yes, you can sometimes find them for like $10k but they’re generally at best in “good” condition. So, a long-winded way of saying a little over $4k.

Thank you for posting! This one spoke to me. Wal is a major bucket list bass for me, but two things have gotten in the way. Cost and aesthetics.
Dany's shop is just an hour from me and I'd already been watching his videos, so I was planning on contacting him anyway. I saw your bass and I wouldn't change anything, but I also couldn't bring myself to copy it outright,
especially since we may be in the same area.
So, mine will be a walnut top. Here's the mockup...
I feel like I owe you a bowl of soup or something![]()
I'll definitely let you know. I'm so looking forward to working with Dany. I love him already.Yep. No matter how much I love the sound, I just couldn't stomach $10-15k for a bass I didn't even think was that pretty.
Would have been totally OK if you had copied it outright. Wouldn't change how mine sounds, looks, and plays, and that's what really matters.
I'm Pearland/Manvel area, but I don't play out, so it's not like we'd have back-to-back gigs in the same place or anything. And even if we did, so what?
Gorgeous in walnut, too. Win-win.
The idea that Dany has gotten additional business based on what I did makes me very happy—I think you'll be the fourth Wal-style since mine and that's just great for Dany. So, the only thing you owe me is a full NBD thread when it's done so that we can all enjoy it—just make sure to tag me in it so that I don't miss it!
I'll definitely let you know. I'm so looking forward to working with Dany. I love him already.
I'm fairly new to TX, been here 3 years. I'm in Brenham. We're fixing up our old farm house and I have no time to play out yet, but I hope to some day.
