NBD: Warwick Adam Clayton Signature

My wife surprised me with a 25th anniversary gift last week...a Warwick Adam Clayton Signature bass! Surprise!

First impressions: Well balanced, feels good, easy to play, simple and useable controls (volume, treble, bass), and growls.

After a little poking around the interwebs and reading some reviews, I made a few simple upgrades in addition to taking it to my luthier for a setup: Swapped the gaudy and cheap looking "Adam Clayton Signature" truss rod cover for a plain black one, and upgraded the nut to a brass Warwick "Just A Nut III"

Wish that the finish was more pure bright white like the expensive German-made version of this instrument, vs. the yellowish "antique" white or whatever this is called. Maybe pop for a refinish? Looking into it...

I almost thought about buying one of these years ago. I then saw the Lee Sklar "SklarBass I" and REALLY wanted that one but, still never made the attempt to track one down. I was ultimately hoping that Warwick would do a RockBass version of the Stu Hamm model but they never did. I kind of have a love/hate relationship with Warwick at this point lol oh well.

Is the passive bass cut useful?

Did you notice any change after replacing the nut from tedur to brass? I have a possibility to buy one at half of the initial price and I'm wondering if there would be any difference other than the look.

Both the treble and the bass controls work well...and provide for a variety of useful tones.
Besides the look, I think the brass nut does give the instrument a better tone and resonance (slight difference, but noticable if you're listening)

My CV balances nicely, meaning it has a slight body bias even though the thing is barely over 8#.
