NBD Warwick Content

Since joining TB in May, I must have witnessed hundreds of NBD postings... Wondering when I would have a chance to post one of my own. That day is today. I am now the proud owner of a new Warwick Thumb B.O. 6! :hyper:

"Look, still got the old tagger on it. Never even played it" (The tagger is not the price I paid. I actually got it for a very good price.)

Thanks for everyone's congratulations & well wishes!

beautiful dude, utterly amazing! have great fun with you new mate!

howz the tone?

The tone is fantastic and unmistakably unique (in agreement with @j_kernodle). The notes are extremely clear. Chords in the low end are only muffled minimally. If someone told me earlier that harmonics could sound this clear, I would have doubted them. This was the first time I actually heard notes of the harmonics at fret positions 1.8, 2.2, 2.8, and 3.2.

Gorgeous bass.

Now get off of here and go play!

That's where I was most of the day/night yesterday. I purchased at 4:00pm. I only got around to posting my NBD around 10:00pm.

The playability is like butter. I already have very low action set on my Ibby. However with my new Thumb, my fingers just glide across the fretboard & strings. I virtually think about the notes & they come out; it is that easy to play. I can transition between plucking, slapping, tapping andharmonics so quickly. I thought I would have difficulty getting used to the wide neck because I do not have large hands by any means. It took about 3-4 minutes to get past it. I was expecting neck dive from reading a number of posts on TB but I've not felt neck dive at all with this bass. Then again, I usually wear my bass up high so I don't know if that affects neck dive.

Congrats on the new bass, she's a beaut! I just got a Thumb BO myself (although only a 4 string), and I can vouch for everything you said about the tone. Fantastic basses. As for the neckdive, if you wear it up high then you likely won't notice it much. I've read tons of posts about it, and after experiencing it myself, I think it all boils down to where people hang their basses. When I hang my thumb at my "normal" level (which is the bridge at or a bit above my waist line) it does have a tendency to slowly shift to horizontal. When I move it up a bit higher so the body curves cradle my curves (oh so nicely), it still tends to go towards horizontal, but it's very comfortable and feels natural that way. With a leather strap, it's not the kind of neckdive where it just goes straight down the second you release it...it's very gradual and slow, and tends to stop once it reaches near horizontal (I'd say maybe 15 degrees if I had to guess). Then it stays put.

Very nice!! Thumbs look awesome.

Someday, I will join the Warwick group...someday...

I was a "someday" guy too until yesterday. I had no intention of purchasing yesterday. Just dropped by the shop. It had been there for quite awhile; I was a bit surprised it was still there. I asked the clerk about it because I assumed it was a used item. He said it's still new; it's just been in their inventory for a very long time. I told him I'd like to take it off your hands if you can make me a good deal. I got a brand new Warwick Thumb BO 6, albeit older stock inventory, for $1699 CAD. (I requested to keep the price tag from the store. Original list was $3799, with their initial mark down to $2271.)

Congrats!! That's a huge steal! My dream 'Wick is a Streamer Jazzman. I don't have the funds to buy it even if I saw one in my price range...but when I do I will jump all over it.

Streamers / Jazzmans (Jazzmen?) are definitely on my wishlist. I also like the Corvette $$, Katana, Dolphin, Buzzard, & the Alien (their Acoustic bass). Ugh @ Amazon.com! I've been watching their specials enviously. Sadly, they will not ship or sell to Canada. I contacted Amazon.ca & they have no intention to begin selling instruments. :(
