Yesterday was a great day!

I recently traded with a fellow TB member (thanks, Bruce!) for a 2023 Fender American Professional II Precision V. The Precision sound really fits with the new band I’m playing with. There are a couple of tunes I like dropping down to D, so I figured a 5 string would fit the bill. I’ve owned a few Am Pro II’s in the past and I like the feel of the necks.

My UPS driver texted me saying he had a signature required package for me and asked whether I was home or at work. My warehouse that I work out of is a 1/4 mile away from my home and we frequently text regarding his daily pick up I have for him. I need to get this guy a heck of a Christmas gift! 😂

Then, stuff got crazy! I picked up our second youngest from my wife and brought her home. I happened to check Marketplace and there it was as the first result: 2011 EBMM Stingray Classic 5. I don’t have that as a saved search term as one would almost never show up around here. It was not completely original as the pick up had been changed to a Bartolini and the preamp was now an EMG. That was fine and didn’t really care. I just had to have it!

I drove a two hour round trip for it. The seller had a little battery operated amp to test it out and it sounded good through there. I was hoping to make it home to test it out through my board and headphones. Unfortunately, our youngest was having a meltdown after her bath and needed sleep. It had to wait til morning.

I finally got to plug it in today and I’m floored. This is my fourth Stingray. (2017 Stingray Special 5 HH, 2019 Stingray Special 5 H, 1993 Stingray 5 H). I liked the ‘93 the best tone-wise, but never fell in love with any of them. This Classic takes the cake, for me.

I’m off to the local music store to grab some Schaller strap locks for both as soon as they open. I have a blues jam tonight that I might hang out at and a gig tomorrow night with the new band. I think the P is going with me tonight as it is already wearing flatwounds. I do have extra long scale rounds on order, but they won’t be here until tomorrow or Friday. The Stingray is gigging with me Thursday night. I’ll be reporting back!

Wow!!! Nice day of bass aquisitions for you indeed!!! Did the classic come with the original electronics ? I would be looking to put that thing back stock . But that's just me. Congratulations !!!
It did not. I’m currently hunting now!

I do like how it sounds currently, but yeah, I want it stock.
