72 P beat to hell with Dimarzios. Sounds great that being the only reason why I considered it. Sounds a lot better than my 08 USA.

Very nice accompaniment to those amps
I always liked one of Ampegs early 70's advert slogans: "Slightly smaller than your average act of God". :D Pretentious, sure, but when pasted across a picture of a wall of SVTs and cabs, it kinda works. :)

Hi, Steve!
Thanks for the clarification!
I grew up and live in Newtown. Bankos was THE place to go in the 60's and 70's for what seemed to be incredible prices. Kids were coming home with instruments and amps that had seemed untouchable in Danbury. It is still there, a tiny hole-in-the-wall store, with so much gear it is like a maze from the door to the back.

Yeah Joe owns it now, I remember the neck cramps I would have leaving there after looking at all the instruments hanging from the cieling, you could go there and stay for hours and you still wouldnt see everything.

I'm in CT too- I'll have to check this place out. Seems far more interesting than the average GC around here.

That 78 looks like a player- I bet it oozes mojo.

Very nice...do my eyes deceive me, or does it have a J width neck??
I haven't measured it but I believe it's not. I have an American Standard P 08 and the neck on it is not as thick as this one. It feels much thicker in my hands than my 08. The dimarzios sound much better than the SD Antiquities I have in my 08. There are too many bumps, nicks, spots and checking to even inventory. The finish is wore slap off were your forearm rests and the buckle rash on the back is the size of Texas.

I wasn't even looking to buy a new bass but was out with my wife for our anniversary and had some time to kill so we ducked into the Atlanta GC and thirty minutes later walked out with this thing. As I said before if it hadn't of sounded so good I wouldn't have even considered it. Comparing this to my 08 is like comparing a first act to a Les Paul. So warm.
