So, I got this bass as a result of my wife totally heckling me and telling me I'd never gig a Squier. I've got to say, this is a pretty damn nice bass for the dollars and it is going to be played at my next show. This thing was great out of the box. Plays good and has a seriously solid B string.

Getting past gear snobbery is often times a difficult thing for us. I've had my problems with it in the past, put I'm open to anything that meets the criteria - if it plays and sounds good and I'm happy with the looks, end of story. Right this minute, I'm contemplating a nearly new Squier Classic Vibe 60's P-bass purchase.

Yep. IMO some of the early MIJ Squiers were better than what Fender Corona was churning out in the early 80s and I've played many Squier CVs and other models of recent vintage that rival some Fenders.

For sure. The old Squier series was garbage! Seriously wasted dollars. These days...Squier = good quality!

I was absolutely guilty of being a gear snob for a long while. Lately, however, I relish finding those way too good of deals out there that make me question why I was a gear snob in the first place! I've played maybe 10 of those Classic Vibes and all of them have been very good to great! I wouldn't hesitate.

I'd like to try a squire p 5. Never seen one in person. The new squire stuff seems to get better reviews. The fender jazz and p I owned were both mim and my thing was looking at the price difference I just went mim. Especially for the Jazz which I got used for $300. The p I got new back in the mid 90s when mim p basses were like $400 new
