I haven't been on here in a while, not even sure when my last Post was.
Picked this up a couple of weeks ago at a pawn shop.Cleaned it, replaced crusty strings and It plays fine.
As far as I can tell it's a 2006. The crafted in Japan Geddy Lee signature series jazz bass.
I already had 4 basses so no real need for another. However it was a good price and I had the money.
It didn't come with a case.

I have a 97' American standard jbass and a 2001 standard pbass with a 2002 jbass neck. The 97' neck is noticeably narrower near the nut than the 2002. Also the 97' is rounder than the 2002.

The Geddy seems to be wider near nut than the 97' and the 2002 and the calipers agree.However, and no surprise, the Geddy is much flatter than the 97' and 2002.

Currently the Geddy has the barely played take off strings from a new old stock squier classic vibes 50s pbass.
I've compared the sound to my 97' jbass and the 97' has more growl and low end. I think it's the strings that are making the Geddy sound thinner (comparatively speaking).The Geddy strings feel thinner too. Fortunately I have a set of barely used rotosounds like the ones on my 97' for a better/equal comparison.
I hadn't put them on initially because I didn't like the red thread RS uses, but I think I'll install them now.

Well that didn't go well. I'm not sure the strings I was going to install were rotosounds after all but they were definitely flatwounds. So that's a no on a Jbass for me.
Those flatwounds came on a used squire classic vibes 50s pbass I bought from a forum member. Super nice guy. He told me they had flat wounds on it and I don't remember the brand but seems I would remember if they were rotosounds. I took them off because I couldn't get used to the texture.
I have more used strings but not sure of the brands but pretty sure they're all 45-105. I also have a set of 55-110 but no way I'm putting them on the Geddy even though the sound really nice.
I don't think the thinner than thin neck could handle them. But the thin neck is really Nice. I'm excited about playing it at a gig but since we're down to about 1 gig a month, it may be awhile.

I have the same bass, very nice. I've always used rounds. I have flats on now and got kind of used to them. I'm jamming alot of zep and sabbath, seems to fit the music better. Bottom line you got a great bass. Enjoy it!

I picked up a 2006 - 2008 CIJ GL here on TB back in June. Swapped out the PG on it and finally set it up to my liking with a nee set of rounds in the fall. It's been my main bass since then. Not that its better than my other basses. I like them all. But I've been on a Jazz kick since Dec of 2021, have 3 now, plus a Precision and Precision PJ. There is something different about the GL than my other two Jazz basses. Raised pickup poles for one, bad ass bridge, the thinner neck. It's been a great bass so far.

I'm definitely putting some different round wounds not sure they'll be new. The current just seem too thin to me.
I have a squier CV 50s pbass that I use as a bestter but since I've gotten the Geddy the CV has beennput back in the gig bag. Meanwhile, although I don't consider the Geddy a beater, I can't put it down. There something about that Geddy Neck.
