NBD....

I finally did it.. Broke down and spent real money on a bass. Not that I don't like my Ibby SR300M... I just decided I need this MM Stingray.

Flamed maple goodness.. Retro burst color... and now with RotoSound 77 flats...

Not sure how to tell if it's a classic, but I think it is.. It was new at GC.

I'm no EBMM expert, but I think your bass is a Classic. A few features are:

String mutes- I think I see them in your pic.
Original pup placement- Like yours.
Price- Higher than non-classics.
Original nut- Not the new compensated job.

The one I played had a roasted neck with rolled edges. Sweet. You've got one heck of a bass there.

It's a Classic series. For the reasons above and, of course, the two-band EQ: bass and treble (and volume) knobs - no mids - as opposed to a standard modern version which has one more knob for mids.

Awesome bass! Enjoy!

There are 2 band StingRays... I have one. The headstock decal is a dead giveaway though, only classics don't mention Ernie Ball.

Very nice bass, I like the thick old school style neck of the Ray.

Correct, I have one too. That retro burst is a little darker than my vintage sunburst stingray but it looks awesome to me!

Here's my 2000 vintage sunburst ray:

There was terrible lighting. The burst out the outside is kind of a redish chocolate. Oh, I'm going to take good care of it. It's my main bass for my show tonight. Going to test it in a short practice soon, then off to the gig. Which happens to be my first gig. Don't worry, it has straplocks on it... :bassist:
