So, like a lot of us on here, GAS runs rampant all too well with me. Just by luck, I guess, two basses that I bought, one off of Ebay and one off of Reverb.com, will be coming in on the same day, AND I have two shows this weekend! If I get some of my band's new tunes learned enough by tomorrow night's gig, then I'll be setting at least one of them up in my hotel room. Since I'll probably be getting a replacement bridge for the GV, the K5 will be the one in the spotlight first. Btw, the replacement bridge will be a Hipshot B, as I can get lower action than an A-style, and I despise ABM's. The Hipshots also have a noticeable impact on sound improvement, too, as I've had a GV in the past where I also replaced the bridge (the bass was stolen!). This new one is much prettier (previous was an ugly sunburst)!

Anyway, on with the show!

Peavey G-V, 35", narrower spacing (not toooo narrow), in holoflek finish (18v Cirrus pre, and GRAPHITE NECK again for the really hot and cold shows, woohoo!!)

While I won't argue with you on the bridge swap, I will take issue with the action comment. With the micro-tilt in the neck, if adjusted properly, you can use practically any bridge and get super low action. Wish I had a use for the ABM bridge, I'd offer to buy it off you. I love me some Hipshot, but these bridges are great too.

Yeah, WaldoNova (clever name!), somehow, my Peavey got bumped from Monday to tomorrow. QUICKER delivery? Go figure. :-D

NicJimBass, I'll probably end up selling the ABM when it's replaced, if you know of anyone looking....

NicJimBass, I must not have adjusted the neck tilt on my last one properly, because I worked on this one more and got it really nice. I think I forgot to loosen the middle neck screw on my old one, and that's what made the difference on this one (loosen ALL screws...duhhhh). I'll have my Elixirs on, with new batteries, and she'll be good to go for the weekend!

Peavey put instructions in all of their manuals, which are easy to find on their website, but I think the vast majority of people in the past never bothered to read it, so they either adjusted them wrong, or just didn't bother with them. I think it's a big reason Peavey basses got a bad wrap over the years, despite being rock solid and nearly infinitely adjustable. That micro tilt is such a great feature when used properly. The one bass that should've had it, but didn't, were the US Millenniums. Glad you were able to get it dialed in better this time! I'll keep my ears open in case anyone needs a bridge!

I looked up the manual online, and while it was for the G-Bass (4-string version), it was similar. I agree about the Mills, as I had two (one a Plus), and the Hipshot just couldn't get low enough...too bad.

My G-V, after having put Elixirs on it, almost plays itself. It sounds like a grand piano, like my previous one. The neck is nearly dead-on flat, too. :-D

Hopefully, it plays without a hitch tonight!

I might not need the BassMods, actually, since my Peavey sounds INSANE. I have to get a new amp, anyway, and luckily, BassMods has that return option.

The Peavey is going with flat eq on my amp, running with a BMC mid pedal, and a VT Bass DI. The low-B is the voice of God.
