NC(s)D: Aguilar GS112's

Scored a pair of Aguilar GS112's (a GS112 and GS112NT) locally from someone that was looking to just unload them. Right place, right time I suppose. Nabbed them up real quick (400 for the pair!) They had their fair share of cat hair all over them, but nothing a few sticky lint rollers couldn't take care of. In very good shape and sound great. Currently awaiting delivery of a TC BH550 to use with them (though I have a feeling I will have a revolving door of amps at my house - always seems to happen)... on my list to 'try' are the TH350 or TH500, GK MB500, etc. Anyways, got these home last night... can't wait to get them out and give them a good run. I had a GS412 when they first came out, which I sold rather quickly because, well, it's massive. Sold it and bought two GS212's and played those for a few years. Got out of the bass game for a while (regret selling my '71 SVT... ouch!) but happy to be back.

Damn. That is the exact setup I want to replace my Ampeg 410. $400 for the pair is awesome, that's about 1/2 price from what I have seen.

Haha, thanks. They were originally listed for a little more but upon meeting she dropped the price even more - couldn't complain at all. I just really love the flexibility of having two small cabs - makes practice at home a breeze.

I'm sure you realize you got a great deal on the pair! Congratulations. The Aguilar GS cabs are keeper as far as I am concerned. They are very well built and with the right head, sound wonderful.

I originally played a Thunderfunk through mine. When I purchased the TH500, I was amazed at how good they worked together.
With the Monique, they were heaven. I never feel like I am abusing them. They can just take it.

In all honesty, I could be satisfied with two NT cabs, sound as good and a little lighter, but the tweeter in the GS is a nice sounding one.

$400 for the pair, you must be living right!

Be sure and take time to familiarize yourself with the EQ on the BH550, it's quite different from other amps. After trying many micros included what you're listed the BH550 or BH880 and the Kustom kxb500 are my favorites.

Absolutely - I know people have complaints about TC's history with their power ratings and whatnot but I am not overly concerned about it as long as I can get a good tone out of it. My bass player in one of my bands (I play guitar as well) plays a Tonehammer 350 so I have a very good idea of how they sound. If I like the BH550 enough I will just keep it and find other stuff to spend money on (we all know how GAS is :D)

I like TC products in general - have used a few of their pedals and have liked them quite a bit. I like the Toneprint feature and think it might come in handy to get a couple of different sounds that I would have to typically use a separate pedal for (overdrive, etc.) I've read that a Zoom B3 into it yields nice results as well using some of the simulators, might try that down the road as well.

About 10 years ago my main rig was a '71 SVT through (2) Aguilar GS212's. Sounded really awesome. Got out of music/bands/bass for a bit and sold it all (stupid!!) but man did it sound great. Sort of an oddball combination but they paired together great. I imagine the GS112's would work just as well.
