How many teams go undefeated in a year though? Maybe 2? 3 tops.

If say Alabama, Oregon and FSU go undefeated. It's Alabama-FSU NC. Unless LSU finishes significantly higher than OK.

I actually don't know. I remember it being sold out in the early 2000s but that's it.

Did the Swamp sell out last year? I'm sure it was early in the year, but after a couple games went the other way was it sold out?

The only teams I care about are close to heart. Texas State, TU, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, the Longhorns and Navy.

That's not there only form of football based revenue.

It's the only CONFERENCE based source.

Things like marketing are tied to the school - not the conference. FSU will sell just as many jerseys and t-shirts in the SEC as the ACC, and they'll draw just as many fans to their stadium - plus they'll be pulling in an additional 5-6 million in TV money.

FSU sold out of season tickets for the 2011 season. They also have a very proud and large fan base that buys a ton of merch.

That is what takes away the TV payout cash difference.

Joining the SEC could risk having more losses and less successful seasons. Reducing season ticket sales and merch sales.

I'm sure they won't. Tradition is everything at Clemson, the ACC rivalries and Clemson's historical dominant place in that conference is something that will not be set aside.

You went to the new arena downtown then, I moved when they were building it. I actually served on the design team for that building. When we held the meetings at Aksarben the attendance was about 8000. Nice guy, Warren, vey unassuming, spent some time talking with him backstage, he even wrote me a reference letter that I framed and hung in my office.

His backstage lunch order says it all, he asked for hotdogs and canned coca cola

FSU doesn't deserve to be in the SEC if they can't consistently fill a stadium as small as they play in.

My team hasn't sold out every game since 1979 - but they've had >100,000 at every single game since 1975.

Cool, it's a nice building. That's great that you got to hang out with Buffett, and that's exactly how I'd suspect him to be.

In the video that kicked off the conference, there was a segment where he played one-on-one vs. Lebron.

Tennessee has the 6th highest attendance in the country last year.
Average 99,781 per game. (that would be 28,000 more per game than FSU)

Southern Cal (USC) and South Carolina (USC) both had higher attendance last year than FSU.

Arkansas finished a couple spots behind FSU, but almost the same attendance.

Kentucky was only a few spots behind, about 67,000 per game as opposed to FSU at 71,000.

Vandy, Ole Miss, and Miss. St. don't belong in the SEC either.

FSU would have finished 8th in attendance in the SEC last year - behind:

Alabama
Tennessee
Georgia
LSU
Florida
Auburn
South Carolina

FSU was #20 in attendance last year. Top 5 were:

Michigan
Ohio State
Penn State
Alabama
Texas

... and Texas average about 29,000 more per game.

Also not fair. You have to take number of students enrolled into account. If you do it goes something like this...

School Name/ Per Student Attendance
1. Notre Dame (6.96)
2. Wake Forest (6.50)
3. Tulsa (5.13)
4. Clemson (4.79)

What is unfair about these numbers though is that a number of teams sell out their stadium and could have a higher "per student attendance" if their stadiums held more people.

Oregon, Nebraska, Tenn, Michigan, Okalhoma, Ohio State, Florida, Wisconsin, Penn State, LSU, Notre Dame, ‘bama, Georgia, and Va Tech are the caveat to the data.

I know in FSU's hay-day they sold out consistently for 10+ years. Last year not so much, 85.6% capacity for a school with 45,000+ students.

Higher population of students equals more people bring their parents, friends, cousins etc. to games. You don't honestly think Clemson and Tulsa have an easier time filling the seats than Texas and Michigan do you?

Yes, and the reason is usually supply and demand. When schools consistently sell out, they expand and or raise ticket prices.
