Instead of a bye week for Florida to prepare for FSU, they get to go to LSU thanks to the SEC and the crybaby LSU. The season is a wash at this point. LSU will be a little more predictable with Miles gone. He always seemed to have something up his sleeve for the Gators.
Dartmouth, and the Ivy League, wraps up their season Saturday in New Jersey where they will likely get beat by the Princeton Tigers.
I'm not so much of a UW fan, but watching them get smoked by USC really took the wind out of my sails. WSU has me nervous, as they'll probably 'Coug It' down the stretch.
Penn State has a chance to make a little more noise with a solid (and big) win over an inferior team at Rutgers.

I have the same trepidation. WSU has a real gift for falling on its face when it gets national TV coverage, and the Colorado game is at 1:30 MT (12:30 PT) on Fox this weekend. Hopefully we can avoid a giant face plant.
It was interesting to see three of the top pretenders stub their toes last weekend. Gee, one loss and the season is ruined. I'm actually glad none of my schools are playing in that mix, it's totally artificial and expecting a perfect season is such rare air that I'm not interested in making that a goal. I look forward to having the playoff expand to 8 teams so we can have at least one-loss teams in there, and maybe even a 2-loss team every now and then.

Hmmmm. Clemson and Michigan lose to unranked teams yet stay in the top four.
Washington loses to a ranked team and drops out of the top four.
I can only guess margin of loss meant more to the committee than the opponent. I'm not sure I agree with that logic.

It's fine. I'm actually completely relieved that UW got their turkey out of the way. I'm not happy that it was against the evil empire, USC, but things happen. They just didn't seem to play very well for some reason, and USC was on it. As far as the committee rankings, there's some kind of voodoo and sausage making apparatus they rely on, and I don't care. If UW wins out and still gets shut out of the playoff, it means they go to the Rose Bowl. That's not such a bad second prize.
What's going to be a trip is if the Big 10 championship is between Wisconsin and Penn State. That's likely enough to think about. All that needs to happen is for all of the teams involved to win out except Michigan, who would lose to Ohio State. That means neither Ohio State nor Michigan would be the Bit 10 champion. Then what would the committee do? I hope it happens, just to see how the gyrations work.

Call me an underachiever, but I grew up knowing the Rose Bowl was THE game. To me, it still is. You make it there, it's the Big Time and you're riding high.

Actually, knowing WSU is going to the Alamo Bowl in San Antone, the Holiday Bowl in Sandy Eggo, or the Rose Bowl, I'm just waiting for the selection to make flight reservations. Heck, I may take a week and drive over and back. It's not a bad two-day trip from here to Southern Cal or San Antone.

The Rose Bowl is indeed a great bowl game, full of tradition. However, times have changed.
If you (not you exactly @Pilgrim, just 'you' in general) aspire to play in the Rose Bowl every year, you are selling your team short. Well, except for the years when the CFPNC game is in Pasadena. In this case, not until after 2020.

Having the Rose Bowl as a consolation prize if you don't get into the national championship playoff isn't so bad. I would be even happier if Washington beat Alabama in a championship game instead of whoever ends up in the Rose Bowl from the Big 10. That's possible, just not so likely.
I'm just glad my Vols (I live in Knoxville) have made some improvement this year. We've crept back into the top 25 (#19). And with the last few seasons we've had, I'll consider that in itself a victory. I knew we would lose to Bama and A&M ( though we took The Aggies to OT and scared the crap out of them). But that loss to South Carolina killed our season. If Florida loses to LSU, we'll be SEC East leaders. But that's not much to brag about at this point. The East is atrocious this year. Our final games are Mizzou and Vandy, so we should finish 9-3.
Have we talked yet about how Michigan lost to a 5-4 team that was 3-3 in its conference, yet UM retained its #3 ranking?

I'm a UF alum, and I still can't get over how we made Dobbs look like the greatest QB ever for a half.
Totally agree that winning the East is nothing to brag about this year. The gap between the East and West in the SEC has never seemed wider.
WI rolls. The improbable journey continues for the team with the toughest schedule in the country this year.
The top Big Ten teams were looking at trap games this week. Ohio State barely beat Michigan State and Michigan is losing to Indiana with 3 minutes to go in the 1st half. Wisconsin went into Purdue and came away with a 29-point win. Penn State plays Rutgers tonight.
I'm hoping that Michigan can pull out the win today. If Wisconsin can beat Minnesota next week (rivalry game, so you never know), then they would play the winner of the Michigan-Ohio State game in the Big Ten Championship Game. A win there could put a 2-loss team in the playoff. Let's go Badgers!

So, what happened to Utah? There is no D in Oregon. Only O. How could Utah lose to Oregon? And, Washington State still has control of their own destiny. So does Washington. The Apple Cup is going to be a barn burner this year. Washington is down a handful of key defenders, but Wazzu is down River Craycraft, which is a huge loss. I hope it's as good as it ought to be, what with the Pac-12 north title on the line. Colorado wins next week and they are in the championship. As much as I would like to see Washington have another crack at USC, Colorado probably won't be cooperative.
