NCAA Football 2017 Week #2

It's early, but the rivalry trash talking starts. It's going to be a good season! I suppose I should start poking at Pilgrim about the Cougs! Nah, I can't do that. I have to root for the Cougs until the Apple Cup.

I will be rooting for Nebraska over Oregon, though. USC/Stanford will be interesting. Stanford has had USC's number lately. It doesn't look so good for Stanford this year, but it's college football.

The Gators canceled their game because it would take away from the resources needed to deal with the hurricane. Wonder if LSU's idiot athletic director is going to accuse the Gators of dodging Northern Colorado.

I was just reading there is a Invalid Link Removed? Man, this is horrible. I sure hope those folks pull through ok.

These just in:

Alabama is good.

Ohio may have defensive issues.

Oklahomas O-Line is pretty darn good.

Sam Darnold wants to be the Number 1 NFL draft pick. So far, so good.

Wake me when Washington faces someone... anyone.
Regarding Darnold...Stanford was a nice test for him and the Trojans. I just hope that Darnold - in light of the fact that there are other high-profile QBs putting up monster numbers - will be content to simply do what it takes to keep being a winner, and let the stuff like awards and draft status happen as it will.

P.S. Sweet win for Oklahoma in the 'Shoe. Only time will tell if it says more about how good Oklahoma is, or about how possibly overrated Ohio State is.

Once again, events prove that you don't watch WSU Cougar football if you have a weak heart!

So - I have to get up around 6 AM Sunday for a three hour gig at 9:00 AM. The WSU game vs. Boise State starts the night before at 8:30 PM MT.

The game is low scoring, and Wazzu can't do much of anything. They're down 31-10 with 8 minutes left in the 4th quarter. The starting QB for WSU sets their all-time passing yard record but is out because he gets hurt. For that matter, BOTH starting QBs are knocked out of the game, including BSU's Brett Rypien, the nephew of Mark Rypien, WSU Cougar grad and Super Bowl MVP.

But....then the backup Wazzu QB throws a nice pass for a TD! 31-17.

Then...the BSU QB tries a shovel pass that a Cougar grabs and runs into the end zone! That makes it 31-24. Boise State runs a series, does nothing they kick to WSU and the ball bounces off one of their players and is recovered by the Cougs inside the 25! Holy crap, the game is now tied at 31 points with 1:44 left in the game!!!

And I'm watching my watch, thinking it would be nice to get some sleep before my morning gig, but I CANNOT leave this game.

1st Overtime: both teams kick a field goal.

2nd OT: both teams get a touchdown and extra point.

3rd OT, and approaching 1:00 AM in the MT zone.....Boise State gets a field goal, WSU scores a TD!! Game over, WSU wins 47-43 in triple OT!!

It's the weekend's miracle comeback!! Invalid Link Removed

I played my gig and did fine, but I have a feeling I'll want to get to bed real early tonight so I can be functional at work tomorrow.

Life is a little nutso in Wazzu-land.
