NCAA Football 2017 Week #3

Yes!!! Thank you.
Dartmouth opens with Stetson. At first I thought it said they were the haters, then closer examination revealed it's the hatters.
I'll wait for @GregC to chime in on the Gators chances this weekend.

The Cougs start Saturday with the 197th consecutive appearance on ESPN Gameday, then hopefully send Oregon State home with a loss.

I will be there to personally supervise this important activity. Harrumph, harrumph!!

The Gators are leaving the same guys they suspended last week suspended this week.
This is now the home opener for the Gators.
Hopefully the Vols play worse than the Gators will. I really won't be able to handle the Vols winning in the Swamp.

OK, I'm finally getting a chance to weigh in. Unfortunately, I don't have any particular insights.

I don't know why the Gators are favored in this game other than home field advantage. The Vols beat GA Tech (which is a respectable win) and beat up on a cupcake. All I can figure is that people think UF will be able to move the ball at least somewhat vs. Tennessee's suspect D. But the Gators' D is questionable as well.

Nussmeier is moving back to the press box to call plays, but I'm not sure how that's going to fix anything. But he and Mac damn well better call pass plays that take into account a very shaky offensive line. Some screen passes to the fast guys will hopefully open things up a bit.

The Gators haven't started 0-2 since the '70s, so I hate to think about that happening now. For no good reason, I'll say Gators by 1.

Whelp, it sure was ugly, but the Gators pulled out a win! Credit to Nussmeier for calling some quick passes early to get things moving. But the O line still looks bad, and the defense (other than scoring points) still looked kind of soft late. On the bright side, Franks may turn out to be the real deal.

Florida won the 'We're Less Terrible Bowl' today.
Hard to gripe about a big win over a rival, but the lack of discipline on the field is maddening, along with it off the field.

I have to admit though, I was watching the game in a restaurant in downtown Seattle, and I took my leave when the Vols tied it. I figured there was zero chance McElwain would figure out how to win the game and didn't want to waste any more of my time watching him fumble around the sidelines with that dumb 'that didn't work either?' look on his face.

By the way...I've seen people calling that Franks TD a Hail Mary play. It didn't look like a Hail Mary to me how I understand a Hail Mary.
That was actually one of the most beautiful deep, deep throws I have seen in a while.
