NCAA Football 2017 Week #5

Congrats to the Cougs on a big win. There's a lot of football left to be played this season, but it's certainly possible that there could be two undefeated teams in the Apple Cup.

My Trojans had better shore up that offensive line, or they're going to keep struggling to beat lesser teams, and keep losing to good teams.

Situational awareness. Teach it to your players McElwain.
I about blew an artery watching Perine run out of bounds instead of going down in bounds to keep the clock running.

I didn't expect Wazzu to pull that off. I was coming back from an early gig on Saturday night and caught the last 20 minutes or so. When the Cougs kicked a field goal with almost two minutes left on the clock, I figured USC was going to come back from the dead and beat them. So much for expectations. The statistics make it look like a more one sided game than the score would indicate. Sorry I missed it. It must have been a barn burner.

Coming back from halftime interview...
Shelley Smith: USC is a second half team. How do you stop that?
Mike Leach: So are we.

I LOVE that guy! Although he will go on at length in press conferences on topics ranging from history to dating etiquette to football (and on and on), he has no patience with pro forma halftime interviews. He gives the greatest halftime coach interviews in the world!!

His best one was two seasons ago when a weenie reporter walked up and asked: Coach Leach, you're trailing...what do you have to do to come back in the second half?

Leach (giving her a look that might freeze water): "Play better."
*Leach walks away.*

Sweeeeeeeet. I laughed and laughed.

Leach has been called The Most Interesting Coach in America. I agree. He's a character and a real piece of work, but the Cougs love characters.

Here's 9 minutes of Leach quotes. The famous "fat little girlfriends" quote is about 50 seconds in. Showing how to throw a shovel pass is around 2 minutes in.

Cougs appear to be starting this week at #11 nationally. The Apple Cup is getting more interesting every week.

Walking 4 miles to work with Mike Leach - shows some of Pullman too. He walks every day and stops at The Daily Grind downtown for more coffee.
