I am usually up before 7, but it is mostly dependent on when the missus gets up. She doesn’t believe in “do not disturb.”
My usual bed time is between midnight and 1am, so it’s not hard to sleep in til 8 on a Saturday, provided the above.

Gotcha. I'm yawning at 8 and in bed by 10:30 at the latest these days. Once in a while my daughter and I will be playing computer games together and I'll look up and it's 7. Next time I look up it's 1 in the morning and I know I'm screwed! I'll still be up by 5:30.
The mental alarms for me and my wife both go off about 6:00 AM. More importantly, the dog's mental alarm usually goes off by 6:30. Sometimes on the weekend if we throw him on the bed we can get back to sleep for another 30+ minutes. I might have slept past 8 AM twice in the past 10 years.

Actually, I feel some trash talking coming on, because the Bulldogs are headed your way. I just can't think of anything that's both cutting and erudite enough for the situation.You should know better @Funky Ghost. Penn and Penn State are two completely different schools. I know that you know that, so just poking some fun at you.
Your Wolverines should feel very fortunate you don't have to play Dartmouth this season.

Oregon is better this year, especially on D, but now RB Royce Freeman possibly and QB Justin Herbert definitely are out. Should be a Cougs victory when the dust settles.

The real winners of this game will be the results of the tests the players are taking on the sidelines in between series.
Some players study playbooks and previous drives, Ivy League players are studying thermonuclear dynamics and applied calculus while on the sideline.
True story.....my first Dartmouth game I ever went to, there were some students studying for an exam in the rows around us. Never seen that before having only been to PAC-10, SEC, and BIG-10 games before that.

I caught a bit of an Ivy League game on the TV once. Columbia vs. a small New Jersey school that I can’t recall. It didn’t draw much of a crowd. Wasn’t much of a game.
Yeah, it's not for everyone.
I like it for many reasons myself. One of them being it is sound fundamental football.
It's not flashy or some kind of major production, which is OK by me.
Football is usually lower in priority at Ivy League schools, which is a nice break from the high stakes Big Five productions I also enjoy watching.

The players are generally more sized and shaped like humans, football is a sideline for them on the way to other things, and it's completely unpredictable as well. If one team is in the midst of an exam week, or the star player has some big paper due, the chances that weird things will happen goes up. Teams that shouldn't win (Columbia, for instance) sometimes beat powerhouses, like Harvard. Harvard being a powerhouse lately by Ivy standards, so everything is relative. The elaborate pranks that happen at Ivy league games couldn't happen anywhere else. There have been some involved, and ultimately outrageously successful pranks pulled off. MIT is often involved when Harvard plays Yale. The best one I can think of was an elaborate system of underground piping MIT students somehow installed at the 50 yard line without getting caught. Then, somehow without getting caught, they triggered fire extinguishers full of paint and had "MIT" suddenly paint itself on the field. Likewise, a group of Yale students somehow hijacked a card section in the stadium in another game, and when the unwitting participants held up the cards, it said something bad about Harvard, on the Harvard side of the field. I don't remember when either of those happened, but I can't imagine something like that happening at an Ohio State game. If it did, all hell would break loose. At an Ivy game, all laughter breaks loose. There's a lot to be said for letting it be a game and not a whole lot more.
Ivy League athletics are college student athletes who play for fun. Ohio State athletics are professional athletes who happen to not get paid.

The joke when I was a kid was that Ohio State was our pro team. It was after my time, but they had a linebacker named Andy Katzenmoyer or something like that, who was flunking golf and AIDS awareness. That was his entire academic load one summer. Some reporter asked his mother a question about it being a problem if he wanted to get a job after college. She said he was in school so he could get a job as a football player. End of conversation. So there you have it.
I realize that I have a presumed bias but there have been times that I agree with refs on targeting. The play where Ward was disqualified was not targeting. That was a horrible, horrible call!
Down goes Oklahoma! Lost to Iowa State in Norman.
Texas A&M made Alabama look human. Michigan State is handling Michigan so far.

Washington-Cal had to have been the dullest blow-out in a long time. It was never in doubt, but Washington still managed to make it seem grinding and difficult. At least on the radio.
