But anyway, last week I saw a Ampeg cab on the Dutch ebay (marktplaats) that I had never seen before a SVR-212 with to 12 inch speakers, 1 on the front and one on the rear. And a tweeter.
I have a weak spot for the oddballs.
Found the manual and schematics on the Ampeg website. Always usefull.
I did a search here on TB and didn't find any very bad reviews, just the weight of 90 lbs would be a drawback.
So I decided to make an offer. The asking price was 200, but I could pick it up this weekend for 100 euro.
It even came with a thick padded cover.
And it ain't true if there are no pictures:
After cleaning it I installed my PF350 in the rack space:
Time to repair the ripped pieces of Tolex with super glue and painting the bear pieces of wood with schoolboard black paint.
The cab is 4 Ohm so the PF350 can deliver the full 350 Watt and I can say it is loud.
The tought behind the design is that the cab won't fart out below at higher volume.
That seems to work, I didn't have to use my HPF.
The sounds is to describe as a lot of mids, so I can dial the mid EQ back on the amp.
That is oke when playing at home. I still have to try it at a band practice with, drums and guitars. But I think that will work fine and I can cut through the mix. I can always turn up the mids on the amp.
Important for this cab is where you place it, close to the wall or 3-4 feet away. That can make a big difference in the bass response, a flaw in the design?

In another thread here on TB someone Ampeg DD-12 rejuvenation, AKA Baby Dinosaur rrrRRAARRrr!!! did a great job rejuvenating his DD-12, brother of the SVR-212.
In that thread you see the crossover with the light bulb similar to the crossover of the Isovent.
There is also a picture of the speaker that shows the Ampeg part number, but other numbers, serial number and type number.
The serial number is 67 - 93080115 would indicate that the speaker is made by Eminence in 1993.
The type number is 121071 and when I google this number in combination with "Eminence" it suggest that it is a Delta 12 Pro 12-A.
Can anyone tell me if this could be correct?
The original speakers are heavy, for the time being I am not going the replace them, they work just fine.
Would the Deltalite II 2512 be a good replacement?

I recently sold a SVR-215 for 150 Euros. Nice cab but way to heavy for me now (100 lbs). This was considered a light weight 215 back in the 90ies
