Like I needed another cab.....but an Avatar TB153 popped up on the local online ads, did some reading, and figured...why not? It's the 4 ohm version, which is fine as I really only visualize using it alone when the mood strikes.

Cleaned it up, it sounds nice, it's heavy but not horrible. Not a fan of metal grills though so this past weekend's project was to give it a plain black cloth grill.

Need a badge for it now right??? Anyone got an Avatar badge they're not using? Would be open to buying same if you do!!

Avatar sold that cab for a brief period with a Kappalite 3015LF in 4 ohms with just a tweeter, no mid (IIRC). I impulse-bought one. I modeled the driver in that box and got good results. If you also have the 3015LF, would STRONGLY advise you to run a HPF, at least second-order, with its frequency point set no lower than 40 Hz.

Big improvement and you probably shaved off a pound in weight. +1 on reusing the logo from the metal grill.

No good reason, likely.....just a general preference. Aesthetics....

It's indeed the Kappalite 3015LF driver. I do have a Broughton always on HPF on my board. Will for sure muck about with it. Thanks.

I had one of those for a while . It worked great at the gigs , plenty of low end and the mids were good too . Mine was an 8 ohm and I added a horn to it .

Probably hot glue, which pries off fairly easily as glues go. You could try softening it with a hair dryer or heat gun if it doesn't want to pop off.

I like the cosmetics of the black cloth grill, but if your in a band with a bunch of ham handed, rowdy, usually half baked and always bumping into everything during loading-in/out like I am, you'll want the metal grill for protection of the drivers.

Both of our guitar players use road cases for their cloth grill combo amps, but over the years, both have somehow managed to put holes through their cloth grills.
