NCD!! (:^D

I *just* received my new Mesa (pre-Gibson??) Subway 1x15 cabinet from Sweetwater. I will spend the day playing along to Exit...Stage Left with it.

I actually like that it's low and wide which gives it a much more stable feel to it. My other new cabinet, a GR Bass Aerotech 2x12slim has a tall profile and is very light, making it seemingly easy to tip over with the head on top.

I remembered to switch over to 8ohm on the back of the TT-800. But I am curious what would happen if I had forgotten and left it on 4ohm?? If I were to play the TT-800 thru both cabinets then I would need to go to 2ohms yes? (It's the number cabs, not the number speakers right?)

The one thing that ruined it all is that Sweetwater attached a plastic bag on the outside of the box and Fedex handled it roughly enough to tweak the Sweetwater sticker and poke a hole in the bag of candy, leaving only a dirty, squished Tootsie Roll. No Sweet Tarts or Bit-O-Honey. Blasphemious! >:^[

Congrats! I am in the opposite position... I have the SW 115 and 210, but my TT800 won't arrive until Wednesday! :D

From my understanding you can run the TT800 with the selector in a lower ohm position with no issues (ie: running in 2 or 4 ohm mode when using an 8 ohm cab, etc) and some actually prefer doing that as the damping changes and overall output is reduced due to running in the lower ohm state. When running a single cab, especially a lower-powered one, this can provide a little "cushion" or additional safety/wiggle room. Of course, always use your ears and common sense.

The only thing you DON'T want to do is present a lower ohm load with the switch in a higher impedance selection.

Congrats on your pairing, and I hope it serves you well!

The bit o honey is all I care about.

On the important OHM LOAD thingy...

It's NOT the number of cabinets and it's NOT the number of speakers that determines the load resistance for the power amp!

Get used to, as a matter of practice, to NOT do anything BELOW a minimum Ohm rating!

The wiring effects the resistance of the components in the power distribution chain. You could have an 8 Ohm 4x10" and wire it to 2 Ohms. The power rating remains constant @ whatever the RMS is rated.

Eminence has a great wiring load diagram online that will be a big help.

You’ll love that cabinet. I’m sorry for your candy situation. I know that can be a disappointment. Bit-o-honey is my least favorite but my wife loves them so whenever I get something from Sweetwater she opens the box and tosses the dumb music junk aside and tears into the bag. But she leaves the Smarties which are my favorite. Last week I ordered some strings that my local shops don’t carry and I bought a couple guitar sets on impulse. And they sent 3 sets of strings in 2 packages! Candy!!
Anyway, if your other cabinet is 8 Ohms labeled you can combine the 2 cabs for a total 4 Ohm load. If your GR cab is 4 Ohms then combined with the 8 Ohm Subway you’d switch to 2 Ohms.
Enjoy!

Just curious about your thoughts on the 112.
I have a Subway 115 and a 112. For the last year I’ve been playing outdoor gigs with just the 112 and D800+ almost exclusively but the 115 makes an appearance occasionally. It’s fantastic but I don’t need it often for the gigs I’m doing these days.

Edit: and yes the 112 is righteous, I want for nothing else

Just curious about your thoughts on the 112.

I like the SW112, and it pairs well with the SW115, but if I had it to do all over again, I would just buy two SW115 cabs. For me, the 115 is an exceptionally well-balanced cab, and I just find myself wanting more of it!

It’s not a knock against the 112. It’s great! I simply like the 115 that much more. It’s a bit deeper sounding without being overly bassy or boomy.
