NCD!! (:^D

Nice rig! How do you like the gr cab and how does it compare the mesa? I've been eyeing 212 slim in particular as it's one of the few medium cabs that would fit in my trunk.

Nice rig! How do you like the gr cab and how does it compare the mesa? I've been eyeing 212 slim in particular as it's one of the few medium cabs that would fit in my trunk.

Today I spent the day playing the Mesa TT-800 thru both cabs one at a time. I have been getting the best sounds with all the amp tone knobs set at 12 and I make tone adjustments using the bass preamp knobs, which makes it nice and easy for comparing the cabs. The 212 slim has a nice treble bite that works well with the rubber strings of the uke bass, and I find I tend to pull back on the midrange knob on the bass to reduce excessive finger noise. The Subway 115 has more low end beef and I have been increasing the midrange knob which give me more definition.

I was intending to pit one cab vs the other, but for the last hour of my practice I hooked up both to the TT-800, flipped the ohm switch on the back of the amp to 2ohms and the collective sound was very full and rich. I will get some sleep and give it another go tomorrow, but right now I am quite inspired by the sound of both cabs together. Perhaps it will be a case of 'the whole is greater than the sum of its parts' and I will keep and use both cabs. So much for reducing the size of the rig, but at least everything is lightweight.
