NCD... Emperor 215!!!

I had to turn way down and the grit didn't come through like I like it.

Anyway, I'll try it out for another few weeks to get a feel for it. I didn't fall immediately in love, but I've been with the the 810 for almost the entire life of this band so this 215 might just be something to get used to.

Try some dampening material inside, at least the back wall. i have an LDS 215 that cuts through just fine with everything set at flat, with a little bump at 800hz.

This coming from a man whose byline is "loud is good."

I know what you're saying, though.

I was using 4x15s for the whole life of one band... and I switched to 2x15 and 9x10, and there was instantly more definition in everything I played.

2x15s can compare to an 8x10, but it really depends on the driver, cab, style of music, etc...

My TL606s pump out oceans of low end that my 8x10 and 9x10 just can't produce. But they're nowhere near as well defined to my ancient damaged ears.

It might be a matter of putting in the drivers that Emperor originally intended... or following the pros advice (bracing, insulation, etc...)

I think the Emperor cabs are what they are.

:D Yeah, by too much I mean it was overpowering the drummer, guitarist, and PA at the volume I needed to get the grit I like.

I'll give it a few weeks and if it turns out I don't like it I'll try the insulation & the drivers are pretty comparable to the Eminence Legends that were originally in there. Who knows... It might already be "better" to people listening for the first time. I'm just used to the 810 at this point.

Story of my life.

Maybe you could go nuts and add a couple of 6"s or 10"s to the Emperor if they'd fit.

(It boils down to if you want to mod the heck out it to be a super cabby-cab, or if you just wanna whomp in it old school and get what you get.)
