So- wanted a 'cheaper', lighter alternative, for larger cabs, for when I play some outside gigs (not often)... currently using Markbass & Aggie (12") cabs. (mention that for tone comparisons)

Picked up 2 Fender Rumble (2014) 1x15's... 300 watt w/adjustable tweeter... 39lbs! (funny- they include casters... you can, almost, carry both in one hand)

Tone is certainly not as rich as the Aguilar (didn't expect it to be)- and not as 'defined' as the Markbass (didn't expect it to be)- but there is a noticable increase in volume presence with the 2x15 vs the 2x12's (thats all I was looking for)

My recommendation for you would be the Audiokinesis TC115. Super lightweight, very powerful, and has none of the negatives the Fender has.
The definition down low is amazing. One of these in 4 ohm version can handle everything your head can produce. It has adjustable ports so that the cabinet can be tuned to deal with boomy rooms. It has internally built in eq to produce flat response, so however your bass and amp sound is exactly what you'll get coming through the cabinet. (Essentially a studio monitor built for bass players on the road).
It's ultra light weight, and a lot of thought has gone into the placement of the handles so that it feels even lighter than its specs.

For reference, I previously owned the Eden 210 XLT, Aguilar GS112 and Berg HT112ER. All had their pluses, but I prefer the Audiokinesis over these and it perfectly fits your requirements.

Do they get an old school Fender sound? I have wondered about those cabs. My main problem is they are 8 Ohm and I would have to use two of them to get the 4 Ohm load I need for my vintage Bassman heads.

True, and they are not cheap (although one of them will often outperform two lesser cabinets). Just letting him know that there are other options out there without the negatives he described in the Fender cabs. Until someone on talkbass told me about them, I wasn't even aware that such a thing existed. Just sharing the love.

Yep- appreciate the 'heads-up' on the higher-end cab... not at all familiar with them... I normally use the Markbass CMD 121P combo (with the GS-112NT Aggie under it)- and just picked up a second Aggie cab (just in case) :smug: ... but I DID want something that could sit in 'the corner' for the few times I will use it! I had an MB CMD 102P with a MB Std 151HR- under it... but I had a hard time letting a MB stack like that 'just sit there'! :oops:

so... these Fender cabs are 'nice enough'... and I don't feel guilty with them just sitting... (if that makes any sense)- got both for under $475.00!

Well- I went straight from Peavey to Markbass... and, although I have heard enough Fenders, I don' have any experience with them... so I probably can't accurately answer that.

(sorry- that isn't very helpful)

... if I was going for 'full-time use' Fender cabs... I would've gone with the Bassman cabs...

I use a Markbass CMD 112p Combo and NY 121 ext cab for most of my gigs, but I have two vintage Bassman tube heads that I would like to find Fender cabs for. Vintage Fender cabs are around, but nobody will ship them because of their size and weight. Right now I use a GK Neo 2x12 and a GK Neo 4x10, both 4 Ohm, with my Bassman amps. Maybe I can just put on some Fender grill cloth.

Fair enough. Talkbass is where I learned of Audiokenisis too.
