NCD (New Cab Day): Marshall DBS 7215

Well, this thing is awesome. Saw this pop up locally for a steal and had to grab it. I’ve been after a Marshall Bass 412 for awhile, so I could channel my inner Lemmy, but haven’t had much luck finding one near me. I’d never see the 215 cab up for sale before, let alone near me, so I was excited. This thing is pretty clean for its age. Picked it up this morning, and just had the chance to plug it in. Currently running my Ampeg V4B through it, and it is BOOMING! I’m strictly an Ampeg guy, and I have wayyyyy too many cabs as it is, but I’m thinking this one is a keeper. Now I just need to find a Marshall head to plop on top (that doesn’t cost me an arm and leg).

I think I only played through a 412 once in my life, with the front-end being my old Randall RB-120 (w/JBL). Kinda ridiculous in retrospect, and I'm sure it was actually a guitar cab, but 21-year-old me loved how "the stack" looked and I remember really digging the sound, too - very thumpy and punchy. Of course, I was mainly comparing it to the RB-120 by itself, so that's a pretty low bar.
I have always wondered why 412 cabs never really caught on for bass, but have always assumed there was a good reason, even back in the Jurassic when fridges roamed the earth and no one worried about weight.

I've never seen one of those, that's killer!

There's a guy in New Orleans who builds custom tube amps at reasonable prices, he excels at Marshall-style circuits tweaked any way you like. If you don't need the Marshall logo and Nola doesn't feel too far from you, check out Webb's Bywater Music. Happy to PM you his info if you're interested (I don't work for/with the guy, just a satisfied customer).

Yeah, I’m a big fan of 12s for bass. Started when I came across a 212 Markbass cab in a trade years ago. Loved the sound, so I’ve experimented with 12s ever since. My main rig has two Ampeg 212AV cabs, so the 412 setup is right up my alley.

I had one of these , along with the 4x12 and the matching DBS 7400. (On bottom)
It was truly a great cab I did not want to get rid of ; but I couldn't move it on my own anymore. The amp is a staple in my collection and is what began my bass amp and cab gas craze.
Having the marshall as my first pro big rig really made a difference in my playing ability and what I heard.
The speakers in yours look different from each other by the picture.
I ended up with a greenboy Dually 2x15 that I can lift with one hand , is the same cab volume and size in retrospect with better power handling drivers. It's done a great job at replacing the marshall for me.

I thought I'd seen every piece of gear over the years, but this is new to me and very cool!

I'd love to hear some samples!

Congrats on a great score.
I have owned the dbs 412 on two occasions.
Ime it’s true “Wembley stadium cab”
The sound was glorious but….
Hard to hear on stage, but the punters were pinned to the back wall with bass power 😉😂🤘
Plus the weight of the thing- great if you have someone to move it for you 😂
