Picked up my first DB today, and WOW, I'm excited.

Such a unique experience compared to electric.

Looking forward to starting some lessons and diving in.

Also looking forward to exploring this side of Talkbass! So much to learn...

Does it buzz when you play? The action looks very low ( I like it! ) at the end of the fingerboard

Man, that is a beautiful bass. Upright is the coolest instrument there is. I had fun with mine a few years ago until tendonitis and arthritis in my fingers and hands put a stop to it. I agree with above, get a teacher as there is a proper technique to playing DB that will prevent injuries down the road. Good luck and enjoy the coolest instrument in the band.

Congrats, she’s pretty. Also nice choice going with the Bassmax for the pickup. Don’t forget to get a stand for it or nice small rug if you are going to lay it down on its side on stage.

Never mind. Just saw the stand in the pic. I thought you had it leaning against the couch.

That certainly looks like a legitimate instrument! Tell us about it, you, and your plans. (And more pics!)

Welcome to the dark side!
I'm 20 years on electric bass, and DB is something I've always wanted to explore. I was finally able to make it happen, so now I'm on the hunt for a teacher to help me develop good habits.

No buzz! It's much higher than it looks. My only comparison is my electric basses, and they're way low. I asked for a "medium" action setup and it seems accurate based on the other basses I tried at the shop.

My initial thought was "make it low" but I also want to struggle with a bow, so I opted for the middle ground. Being my first DB, I want to get to know it before making any serious adjustments.
