neck finish question.

I saw several threads on this and think that I have come to an understanding but thought I would ask anyways.

Would it be OK for me to do a flat colored finish on a neck, say flat brown?

Would this be the same as doing a colored satin finish or would this be a thicker final coat than a satin finish? If so, would this cause any problems as the neck adjusts? (finish cracking)

There are basses on the market with flat finished necks (Gibson and Epiphone Goth T-Birds).............I personally have guitars with flat stain finished necks that play great.

Might want to use a quality paint in thin coats...............In automotive paint they have additives to keep paint flexible on plastic bumpers, not so sure if that is needed in wood finishes:confused:
