Neck Finish

So I bought a bass that someone had sanded down the back of the neck for a better feel, I'm trying to figure out of I re-spray the back of the neck will change the tone?

I sold a bass yesterday that I sanded the finish of the neck. it got resprayed with a matte finish though. Doesn't affect the sound.

Won't change the tone. I prefer satin finishes to gloss finishes, as they don't seem to "grip" your thumb as much. I recently refinished a bass and used a spray can of satin lacquer from lowe's, and it came out great.
