A 12 radius on the Ray 34 isn't that much flatter than a 9.5. It really shouldn't be THAT noticible.

Neck Radius and Comfort

Exactly. Assuming a neck width of 2 inches, the edges of a 9.5" radius neck will be all of 0.011" lower (compared to the crown of the neck) than one with a 12" radius. If that cramps up your arm, you have some mighty sensitive digits.
I'm sticking with weight (and strap) issues.
