So I broke the neck off my schools Shen double bass (lower end Shen if that makes a difference) and I was wondering how much it would cost me to get if fixed (if that is possible). I wasn't there when the neck came off so I can't tell if it is a clean break or not; if possible could you give me an estimate for both situations? Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated.

I went to grab the bass next to it, we have a little stand hand made to support all of our basses, and when I grabbed the bass I wanted the one next to (the one with its neck now broken) came crashing down. I examined the bass and noticed the neck had a small crack on at the heel but I didn't think it had gone all the way through. When my teacher went to tune the instrument the neck broke off it was tucked away in the corner when I told him why that happened so I didn't get to see the damage I had caused.
At least you fessed up. That's pretty honorable.

If its just a clean break through the heel, it might be somewhere between $250 and $500 for the structural repair. Any secondary damage (cracked pegbox, detached bass bar, cracked rib) would be additional.
