Neck Shims

My playing style has evolved somewhat now I'm no longer a gigging musician, so I like a lower action than I used to play with.
I noticed my Am. Std. Jaguar was still in the old setup (I've been playing my Precisions lately), and needs the action lowering.
The bridge saddle on the E is completely bottomed out, and the neck relief is just fine, so I'll need to add a shim to angle the neck a little.
My question is: Is there a formula for adding a thickness of shim to get a certain amount of height at the bridge? e.g. One business card thickness gets you 1/64" etc.?
I'm no stranger to turning wrenches and screwdrivers on guitars, and basses, and have always relied on trial and error for this, but it's been a while, and I don't want to keep taking the neck off.

On a Fender-size bass, the ratio is about 1:6. Adding a 0.010" shim under the heel of the neck will raise the bridge saddles about 0.060".

Standard old-fashioned business cards are usually around 0.006" thick. One business card will raise the saddles about 1/32". Two business cards will raise the saddles 1/16"+
