I don’t see any room for ball end on those tuners. Maybe there is a string clamp on the back. It looks like there’s a hole in the moving tuner part so maybe it’s just pulling the string in tune while the end is clamped on the back of the body.
This is awesome. A 5-string version may fix my XLW5 problem (perfect bass but rarer than rocking horse dirt).
From what I read w.r.t. the guitar, NS is outsourcing the CF work to Sankuer Composite Technologies (SCT). This isn't their first instrument: they already sell a guitar under their own Detroit Sound brand name. I can imagine Patrick Sankuer jumping at the chance to work with NS.
oh man, one of the things that makes me hesitate on the CR6 radius is the one piece saddle. Excited to see that this has all the strings getting their own saddle, *and* is fanned fret.
We're a bit over five months since this came to light...any news? Updates? Spy photos?

I was more interested before I saw it was going to be limited to 12. Feels like high price and a potential to pick and choose high profile buyers. Still an interesting looking bass though. Feels like one that is going to be special.

Finally, but such joy and such pain as I'll never be able to afford it, or get my hands on one if I could.
It does look almost identical to some of my sketches for a woodberger variant I'd like to build.
Has the price been announced? I haven't seen one on the page.

Personally, when the disposable funds are available I want to seek out a gen 2 XQ-5W for nostalgia. An L2-5W would be extremely hard to find, along with the funds to afford such a unicorn; an XQ will be much easier. Also, an XQ was one of if not the first bass I ever bought.
Lately my fav is a Conklin Bill Dickens seven string. Sure, a custom made, fanned fret headless 8 string wide neck w/ LED inlays would be sweet, but right now the $$$ are not available for that either.
As for something new like this, were it to enter production, I may consider on the used market so as not to take that first depreciation hit.
there's three wide necks in japan. the "cheapest" one is still in the five-figure range...
