so, the airline company i traveled in "misplaced" my '61 Jazz Bass and i have a gig on friday, need a Bass that costs no more than 300 to be my backup until they find it or we settle the amount their gonna give for it disappearing...

i have a gig on friday, then again on tuesday and the next friday so i really need something that sounds good, can take the hammering and is affordable at the moment...

any suggestions will be welcomed

If all the gigs are in the same area, you may be able to rent something. Those Squires are nice for the money but they cost about $300 new in the USA and are likely to be more in Europe. Of course you may find a deal on a used one over there.

If you let folks know what city you are in, someone local may read this and have some ideas that could help.

Good Luck,
S

CV here costs around 375€, thats like 440 dollars

1st gig will be in Berlin and i found this store that is cheaper than the others and i can go there one day and make it back in the other, any suggestion?

http://www.thomann.de/gb/index.html

all this cause i left my backup bass at home thinking nothing could go wrong...

I actually never knew Thomann had an actual store, I always viewed them as an internet shop - which is of course their main business. But now that I see they do have their store in Treppendorf, how are you going to get there? It's more than 200km from Berlin in bird's flight, and I find it really hard to believe that it's worth the trip to save a few Euros off list compared to any regular shop in Berlin.

Thomann do offer very cheap shipping, though, so if you have a fixed address for at least a few days, maybe they could ship the bass to you and you could save a lot of time and travel money.

Even if it weren't an emergency I would recommend a Squier VM or CV. If nothing else, it will do you in the meantime until you can get soemthing you may like better, then again you might also find yourself liking the Squier a lot and wanting to keep it as a backup. That was my intention when I got my VM J last year, as a backup beater bass for my $1200 MIA Jazz. Turned out I like it so much, I wouldn't hesitate to use this as a main player.
