Hey folks -
I'm looking for an upright bass player in the Dallas-Fort Worth area who loves traditional bluegrass and bluegrass gospel for a fairly low-frequency band gig (practice and/or play 2-4 times per month). I play bluegrass bass here in the DFW area (feel free to call me if you need any help in that regard) but also play banjo and dobro - so I need a bass player for that band.
Pay on our gigs varies considerably, but we don't usually clear much more than gas money plus a little something for our time. We do this because we love and enjoy it, and all have busy day jobs. Ideally I'd like to find someone who has his or her own upright bass (and car), is reasonably mature (which has little to do with age), is drug- and drama-free, is a reasonably solid musician willing to practice and work to improve, who maybe can sing a little (lead and/or harmony OK), etc. Musically we'd love to have a good solid 1-4-5 player who can hold time and push things along. [OK, now that I re-read the description, I'm asking for a lot!]
