Need a new book

My SLAP & POP BASS (Modern Funk Techniques) book takes you from the beginning. Each chapter introduces a new technique and gives you some grooves and patterns to work on utilizing the technique as it is introduced, other than throwing the kitchen sink at you right away. Each chapter deals with new subject matter: First the slap, then the pop, then hammer ons & pull offs- double pops etc. This book is a sort of step by step approach. I expect to write a second slap & pop book soon to address primarily advanced techniques.

The book is published by Alfred/NGW and can be found on many websites. You can also go to my books page on my website: daveoverthrow.com

I also have a few slap & pop video lessons to be posted on WorkshopLive.com.

To anyone interested, I'm teaching a bass seminar at the National Guitar Workshop's Los Angeles campus (Loyola Marymount) from June 30th to July 5th. Much time will be spent on Slap & Pop and other funk bass techniques during this seminar. Stu Hamm will be stopping in for a day.

Also, at the National Guitar Workshop's Connecticut campus (Canterbury School) I will be teaching a similar seminar and Billy Sheehan will be stopping in.

If you have any questions regarding these seminars fell free to drop a note.

Peace
-Dave

MY BOOK TEACHES YOU TO SLAP JUST LIKE FIELDY FROM KORN! IT TAKES YOU TO BEFORE THE BEGINNING OF SPEECH AND COHERENT THOUGHT. WAY BACK TO WHEN PERCUSSION WAS THE ONLY FORM OF MUSIC IMAGINABLE.

WITH A LOW ACTION AND EXTREMELY SLACK STRINGS, YOU'LL BE WELL ON YOUR WAY TO BEING A ROCK GOD!
