Need advice for 5 stringer

Hey all- I love J style basses (and my musicman and P....but my J is my main bass). Im all about EVENESS OF TONE everywhere on the neck, and I have played and owned everthing.......over 40 basses. I have never done a j-style 5er and need to know which one is boss. any advice? the best j for my taste believe it or not is my american deluxe jazz bass (liked it so much better than pensa, mike lull, etc...)

your budget will depend on what people can recomend for you. the obvious choice for an awesome 5 string jazz bass would be a Sadowsky or Mike Lull in my opinion, but there are many other great ones out there too that cost much less.

G&L Is nice, but its not really really "J" Style as you want. I think the higher end American Jazz V's are fantastic instruments. I thought the Low End built a Jazz 5. Those are fantastic instruents. You could also look at Valenti and Sadowsky. Theres alot of flexability when it comes to J5's.
