Need advice on combo rig

I have recently been having problems with the GK MB212 combo I have , it has had little use but I have had issues to the point that when I get this second one fixed I will be moving on to something else , I need something reliable more than any thing else and the GK has left me less than confident. I have checked the carvin site just for kicks and saw the MB12 3 way , this looks really nice , but I don't know how it will be in the power department , also saw the new epifani epifunk combo's but don't know if the power is enough for me. And I did also see some micro combo's from eden using the 264 head and either a single 10 or 12 cab. I don't typically play with a live rig , and when I do I have to be able to fill a decent size room sometimes up to 500 people, but for the bigger rooms i usually use P.A. support. but I do want something light.I also saw a thread on the fEarfull homebuilt cabs but don't really want to build one myself although they look cool

That MB12 won't do 500 or even a tenth of that. Well, maybe 50, but only if you're playing some sort of dwee acoustical stuff. The MB 10/12/15 amps aren't combos; they're minis that sacrifice both output and range to form factor. You'd be taking a huge step backwards from the MB212.

I don't think you can handle 500 with ANY combo, unless you jack in an extension cab.

"500 people" and "light" -- both at the same time -- is a pretty high wall to get over.

Like I said on a venue of 500 I use P.A. support and the live rig is only for stage volume.

I did find a markbass jeff berlin 115 in the local craigslist for 600.00 not bad.

I might just switch away from combo's in general , go back to a separate head and a 4x10, the cabs nowadays are so much lighter to begin with. I used to have a euphonic vl210 with an ashdown abm500 and that rig just killed . i wish I could find another euphonic vl210 in 4 ohms and just rebuild that rig so to speak

I read this as follows: You're trying to hit 500 people solely with the combo, and for "the bigger rooms" (greater than 500) you have PA support:

Apart from that, however, I agree with your decision to go back to separates.
