Need advice: Peavey Milestone II or Daion Savage

I'm a high school band director, and we have 2 basses in our inventory to use with our jazz band. One is a Daion Savage that is a PJ bass. The other is a Peavey Milestone II that is a P bass. Both are 4-string basses. I have a set of D'Addario round wound strings on both. I'm not sure of the value of either one. I'm also curious which everyone would choose for jazz band. Thanks in advance!

Be careful putting that Daion in the hands of clumsy kids, they fetch $600 - 700 on the used market.

The Peavey Milestone II is in the $150 to $200 league.

This^, plus the Savage has a rather Jetson-ish body that might be distracting if not downright off-putting in a "traditional" setting. And I find the tone of Daions to be a bit pinched and over-middy, kind of like a compressed P bass.

But Savages are light; I will give them that.
