Need advice

I'm fairly new to playing bass and I was wonder what a good bass would be for playing heavy metal? Any advice would be great. Thanks everyone

In my opinion,a good metal bass is one that can easily cut thru an already crowded mix of loud, distorted guitars & loud drums.I know alot of players succesfully use traditional basses, like the Fender types for metal. But there's alot of alternatives out there.
The Warwick Thumb is one that has legendary,"cut thru the mix" qualities, due to it's choice of dense tonewoods, like ovangkol/wenge/ebony & bubinga ,as well as it's pickup type(J style) & more importantly, their placement. The 5 string's pickups are both positioned very close to the bridge,on an angle to make for a very growly, aggresive tone with good string to string balance.I strongly advise not to buy this model untested. The small body, with it's short upper horn make it a bass usually best worn up high,& better suited for players that like their bass to balance more horizontally than most. There's a hell of alot of players that've bought this model after simply hearing it in the hands of bands like Mudvayne, only to soon realize the tone they desired is not worth putting up with things like the balance & weight.
There's other Warwick models that are also very popular amongst the metal players,so it's best to try as many as you possibly can.
Best of luck in your search.
