Need Amp Advice

Hi all, new here. I'm sure there are hundreds of posts like this a day, but I'm looking to buy my second amp, and not sure where to look. My price range is $200-$500. I play a crappy Squier Affinity P-Bass through a little 15 watter right now. The bass actually doesn't sound too bad so I figure I'll upgrade the amp first. I play mostly heavy stuff; metalcore etc. Used or new. Any help is appreciated . Also, is there a way to get your bass into a computer via USB? And maybe a program that could act as an amp for recording? Thanks .

hey, As far as your recording questions, there is this really great audio interface from tascam that goes straight into your computer via usb. Its pro quality, and all the ratings for it are great. Look into the used market. Peavey or Carvin is a great value.
I suggest a 15" speaker with 200 watts or so.

Used Peavey or Carvin is a good idea. New, I'd look at an Acoustic B200h with a 115 or 410.

You can probably get a good used Fender, GK or Hartke in that price range. I paid $200 for a used 300 watt Fender combo with a 15 inch speaker. I haven't had any luck with Peavey or Carvin.
