Need cheap distortion

My brothers guitar effects for some reason aren't working anymore and I needed it for some distortion. I don't care if it's single I just need a decent distortion that might be able to pull off some cliff burton stuff. It doesn't have to sound exactly like his it just needes to be enough distortion to sound decent for that kind of material. By the way by cheap I mean sub $40 no more.

I got one for $15 used.

Not perfectly Cliff Burton, my overdrive gets the tone far better, but the DS is very cheap and should last you until you can afford something closer to what you're looking for. It should be close enough.

I'v tried the DS-1 for bass, but it only takes away my low end and volume... I havnt tried it with a compressor, and that might be a reason, but nonetheless.

Im sure yo ucan get a used Big Muff off ebay, and it dont get much closer to cliff's distorsion than cliff's distorsion.

i got a behringer distortion for £15 new, plastic case, wuite cheaply made but sounds pretty good, especially seen as though it only cost £15!!

I would say a Digitech Bad Monkey, but tone-wise it might not suit your needs. However, it is probably the best drive pedal for bass that you can get for less than $100 or so. The Danelectro Fab Metal might work better for you, but don't plan on it lasting very long.
