The best strings for what the OP desires that I have experienced are the GHS Balanced Pure Nickels. They do what the OP desires. I just got back from the annual tour to Mexico with my band, and they performed flawlessly in this regard. Remember, like any set of strings, they will be zingy until they settle in. Just drop the tone knob on the bass a number or two until they do.You want pure nickel roundwounds. Make note, it MUST say "pure nickel," as all the strings that are packaged as "nickel" are actually nickel-plated steel.
I just ordered some pure nickle fender bass string and ill let you know what I think. You want pure nickel roundwounds. Make note, it MUST say "pure nickel," as all the strings that are packaged as "nickel" are actually nickel-plated steel.
