I know mine pretty well, and my experience shows a battery has to get pretty low for the volume to decrease significantly. But it also depends on how much output you're trying to get from the unit. I've found that plugging into AC won't really help a unit that contains a battery that still has a reasonably good charge. It sounds like you're getting close to zero, though. In your case I might want to remove the battery and run solely on the adapter, as a temporary test. It'll give you one more useful data point. (Just don't unplug the adapter while the amp's still powered up/volume up . . . or things can get ugly fast, "depending.")

It eliminates battery connections.

The BDDI has drive and level. If you put both at noon you should get some sort of decent sound?

With everything at noon on mine there is a pretty decent volume increase from blend on zero to blend on full.

So the unit works ok in bypass mode? You can test each cable individually by just plugging into the amp directly with your bass only. If both cables and bass and amp work fine and the Bass Driver has a fresh battery plug the bass into the BDDI. Set the level switch for instrument and see that it works ok in bypass. If it works ok in bypass set the BDDI with all the controls at noon but the blend turned off or counterclockwise. At this point the SansAmp circuit is off and the BDDI engaged should just function as a transparent DI with a level control. The Driver and Presence controls are inactive with the blend off. If it functions at with the blend off try turning the blend up to about noon and see if it works and that the drive control is responding. If not there is something wrong with the pedal.

If the pedal is new I would just return it for a different one from the dealer. We test each pedal before it leaves the factory but every now and then something slips through or gets broken in shipping.

yes the unit works fine if you mean with it plugged into the parallel output. The cables, bass, and amp are good as well. With the level switch set to inst it does work. It still works with the blend turned off but if i turn the blend up to noon then mess wiith the drive knob there is zero difference in voulume or tone

If you're using it directly between your bass guitar and amp there is no need to be using the parallel output. The parallel output can be used in two ways. 1. To send the sound of your un-effected bass to the mixer. 2. To send the sound of your un-effected bass to your amp.

There are 3 outputs on the Bass Driver. The 1/4' and XLR outputs on the left of the unit and the parallel 1/4" out on the bottom right of the unit. There is only 1 unput which is also on the right above the parallel output.

For using a stompbox with your bass amp use the 1/4 SansAmp output.

ok i tried it in bypass mode and like this you can hear it but it is no different than being plugged into my amp.i tried everyone of the things you suggested about the blend and drive controls and it did not sound one bit different than the bass plugged directly into the amp
so would this mean it is defective

This is getting tiring.

Checklist:
You plugged the regular output into the amp, with the boost on or off?
You nooned all the knobs.
You hit the footswitch so the LED lit up nice and bright.
You got a nasty distortion sound.
You hit the footswitch so the LED went off and the bass sound went back to normal.

Yea or nay?
