need help about changing pickups

Hi, its gonna be my first time to change my pickups, the current one is a bartolini mk1 neck and bridge. I am going to change it because its really really old and I want to keep up with the new trend. The B string also sounds muddy and unclear.

I was thinking of an Ultra Jazz 5™ from DiMarzio.

The thing that worries me is the size of it? Do i have to modify my bass body to make the Ultra Jazz 5™ to fit?

Aren't MK1's a soapbar pickup? If so, a standard J pickup may fit, but it won't look pretty since they are so much smaller.

You may be better off upgrading to a better preamp.
